Build Your Financial Foundation

Starting or running your own business in Australia means dealing with financial questions every single day. How much can you actually spend on that new tool? When should you hire someone? What happens if a client pays late?

Our budgeting program walks you through the stuff that actually matters. We've worked with entrepreneurs across Queensland and beyond since 2019, and most people tell us the same thing—they wish they'd sorted their money systems out earlier.

Programs start in October 2025 and run for twelve weeks. You'll work through real scenarios with people who've been exactly where you are now.

What You'll Work Through

Before You Start

Most people come to us when they realize spreadsheets alone won't cut it. Maybe revenue's growing but cash flow feels tight. Or you're hiring your first employee and need to know if the numbers actually work.

  • What does the twelve-week program cover?
  • Do I need specific software before starting?
  • Can I join if I'm still in the planning stage?
  • How much time should I set aside each week?

During the Program

We meet online every Tuesday evening for two hours. Between sessions, you'll apply what we covered to your actual business—your real numbers, your actual decisions. Some weeks feel easier than others. That's normal.

  • What if I miss a session due to client work?
  • Can I get feedback on my specific situation?
  • How do I handle unexpected expenses mid-program?
  • Is there support between weekly sessions?

After You Finish

The program ends, but your business keeps moving. You'll have systems in place and know what to watch for. Plus, you can reach out when something changes—like expanding to a new location or switching your pricing model.

  • Do I get continued access to program materials?
  • Can I come back for a refresher in 2026?
  • What if my business model changes completely?
  • How do I adapt the framework for growth?

Who You'll Learn From

Freya Thornbury financial educator

Freya Thornbury

Program Lead

I spent eight years in corporate finance before starting my own consulting practice in 2017. Turns out, budgeting for yourself is completely different from managing someone else's money. I made plenty of mistakes early on—paying for software I didn't use, underpricing projects, that sort of thing. Now I help other entrepreneurs avoid the same headaches.

After running a design studio for twelve years, I know what it's like when you're good at your craft but the financial side feels overwhelming. I sold that business in 2021 and started helping other creatives and service providers build sustainable practices. My approach focuses on systems that actually fit into your workflow instead of adding more work.
